About The Owners
Tom Mahoney grew up in the Dorrance, Kansas area as a farm kid. As a youngster, he spent time in Sierra Leone, West Africa where his dad worked for three years in the late 1960’s teaching the local population how to mechanically farm. Tom returned home to the Dorrance area after graduating from KSU and marrying Heddy Kroeger. Eventually, Tom took up flying as a pastime that turned into a full-blown aviation career. In 2020, he retired from Southwest Airlines and now resides on his 160 acre hay meadow with is wife, Heddy. To maintain an active roll in aviation, Tom holds advanced instructor ratings and is promoting his annual Hayland Fly-In.
For the past few years, Tom and Heddy have made lots of improvements. The property now has a recently built hanger/apartment and a large horse barn. Tom is in the process of completing a log home that has been under construction for five years.
